Nanaimo residents have one day left to submit an elector response form against the City of Nanaimo’s proposed Alternative Approval Process (AAP).
The AAP is looking to borrow $90 million to upgrade the public works yard buildings and fleet maintenance.
The loan would be given back over a period of no longer than 20 years if it moves forward.
Eligible electors must be given at least 30 days to submit response forms against the project and in this case the city has given 42 days to oppose it.
10 per cent of eligible electors must submit forms for the AAP to fail, and forms can be submitted in person, online, or through the mail.
Those opposed have until Thursday, October 31 at 4:30 p.m. to submit their forms.
The decision on the AAP will be announced at a later council meeting.
It’s the third time in the past year the city has tried to obtain an AAP for the public works yard.
