Schedule changes to BC Transit’s handyDART system on the Sunshine Coast are coming next month and riders are being asked to check schedules before heading out.
BC Transit says the changes are part of an expansion being put in place to better accommodate the needs of those who rely on public transit across the Sunshine Coast Regional District.
According to a media release, weekday service is being extended by half an hour starting at 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Saturday service is being increased from 9:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and a Sunday service will be introduced from 9:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
The service extension was made possible by an increase in funding and BC Transit says it’ll benefit the whole transit system.
“This service expansion for the Sunshine Coast Transit System has been made possible by an increase in local government and provincial funding,” they say. “The operating grant provided in the 2024-25 provincial budget will allow BC Transit, and its local government partners, to continue to provide safe and reliable service.”
The fall service is expected to bring some changes to the transit system, and BC Transit says users should verify any schedule changes through their website and/or UMO app.
