Starting October 1, BC Transit customers can no longer purchase legacy sheets of 10-ride tickets for specific routes on the Sunshine Coast.
BC Transit says they will be transitioning this into a more convenient method that will utilize Umo alternatives which can be loaded into the app, online, or to a reloadable Umo card in person.
They add, the current methods of payment will continue to be accepted until vendors run out of their supply along with tokens, and handyDART fare products.
“Cash and the province’s bus pass will continue to be accepted,” they say. “Tickets will be accepted until used up, and a new Umo compatible token will be available to support the needs of social wellness organizations that offer free or discounted fare products.”
BC Transit says they’ll continue to offer enhanced fare products on the Sunshine Coast including a pre-paid dollar value loaded to the Umo app, a DayPASS which is automatically applied to an app or card, and a 30-day pass.
