The BC United party is reiterating their call to remove carbon taxes off British Columbians.
Kevin Falcon announced if elected, commercial fishing vessels and harvesting operations will have the carbon tax removed if elected, along with a removal of the carbon tax completely for all British Columbians once the Federal Government does.
Falcon said they can’t remove the tax right away since it’s a federal tax, but they want to help British Columbians in the meantime.
“Commercial fishers are struggling to make ends meet, and David Eby’s carbon tax is continuing to punish hardworking fishermen, which simply increases the cost of food for everyone.”
Removing the carbon tax from commercial fishing vessels will make life more affordable for everyone according to Falcon and axing the fuel tax could save up to 15 cents per litre for drivers.
BC United candidate for Courtenay-Comox Bill Coltart said fishing and harvesting operations need the tax removed for immediate relief.
“Our fishing and aquaculture industry has been completely abandoned by the NDP; this is a common-sense mainstream solution to provide immediate relief to the industry.
The party is projecting removing the tax could provide up to $45 million in tax relief to British Columbia’s commercial fishing sector.
