The Sunshine Coast Community Forest says they’re opening applications for their Legacy Fund for those who have an idea on how to improve the lower coastal community.
The Legacy Fund was formed in 2014, and according to their webpage has already paid out more than $3 million from the proceeds of operations, and $13 million to community groups throughout the lower Sunshine Coast to fund several projects.
They say applicants can apply with a letter of intent before May 1 through their website, and applications will be open to non-profit groups and public sector agencies for projects that will have lasting benefits to the communities.
According to their website, last year approximately $60,000 was handed out to the BC Conservation Foundation, Tetrahedron Outdoor Club, Sunshine Coast Salmonid Enhancement Society and the Pender Harbour Community School.
The projects ranged from obtaining Kelp Nursery Lab Equipment, a new Chapman Creek bridge, water source pipes repair, and completion of a new community building.
