New daily high-temperature records were set on the Sunshine Coast yesterday thanks to a strong ridge of high pressure.
The mercury hit 27 point 8 in Gibsons breaking the old record set in 1989 of 23.
Records began in Gibsons in 1949.
The temperature in Sechelt was 27 point 8 yesterday breaking the old record of 24 set in 1982.
Temperature records there go back to 1956.
The mercury got up to 28 point 8 in Nanaimo yesterday, but no records were broken.
The normal daily highs for this time of year are 20.
The hot weather is expected to stick around for the next couple of days.
