Oceans Day event planned in Sechelt

Saturday is the third annual Sechelt Oceans Day.

A number of events are planned on the downtown Sechelt waterfront and participants are invited to pick up an Oceans Day Passport to enjoy activities and a chance to win prizes.

The activities start at noon with opening ceremonies.

Following that children can work on an ocean ecosystem chalk mural and people are welcome to participate in a seashore scavenger hunt.

At 1:30 Fisheries and Oceans Canada Community Advisor, Dave Davies will use a net to look for young salmon who are migrating now from the rivers to the ocean.

There will be two shore cleanups this year, one at the waterfront in Sechelt and a SUP-Supported Porpoise Bay Cleanup.
