Sunshine Coast RCMP has had a busy week that included a series of investigations related to break and enters.
Last Friday police were on foot patrol when they heard a noise in a home in Garden Bay that was believed to be abandoned.
Inside, police arrested two men who were in possession of copper piping and various tools commonly used during break and enters.
Also, sometime between late April and last Friday, a suspect broke in to a property in the 5400 block of Garden Bay Road in Garden Bay, and stole a number of items including a Generac 4000 7 point 8 horsepower generator, a Husqvarna riding mower, a Briggs & Stratton gas push mower and a barbeque.
Police are on the lookout for those items.
A week ago a walker was stolen from the storage area of a home in the 5600 block of Wharf Avenue in Sechelt.
It’s described as burgundy and black with a dark blue seat.
Also disappearing in the past week was a 10-foot long fibreglass rowboat from a property in the 2000 block of Cassidy Road in Roberts Creek, along with a pair of oars that had been stored in an outbuilding.
The boat has two copper rollers on the back for pulling up crab traps.
Anyone with any information about the thefts is asked to contact the Sunshine Coast RCMP detachment.
The Sunshine Coast RCMP have also spent some time dealing with two different cases of scams.
The first was the “Grandchild “Scam.
That’s when someone calls and claims they are a grandson who needs money to get out of jail and they don’t want other family members to know about their predicament.
In this case, Mounties say the resident requested some time to gather the money but then grew suspicious and contacted police.
No money was lost.
In the other case, however, the victim wasn’t so lucky.
She responded to an ad for four sought-after concert tickets and agreed to e-transfer the seller the payment.
She got the tickets, which appeared legitimate but then a week later, noticed the same tickets for sale by the seller again.
Mounties say it is unlikely the victim will be able to recover her money nor that her tickets will turn out to be authentic.
