RDN gets cash to mitigate wildfire risk

As part of its ongoing commitment to reduce wildfire threats, the province is providing a 47,000 community resiliency investment grant to the Regional District of Nanaimo.

The grant will assist with education, cross-training, fuel and vegetation management, and FireSmart activities on private land.

Sheila Malcolmson, MLA for Nanaimo says the funding will help keep the communities safe from the threat of wildfires.

Mitigating wildfire threats is a shared responsibility of the provincial government, local governments, First Nations, industry, stakeholders and individual British Columbians.
