The Sunshine Coast RCMP are reporting a resident managed to cut their losses before an incident of fraud escalated.
Mounties say they got a report from a woman who said she received an email purportedly from Netflix advising her that her monthly payment had not gone through.
She provided her credit card information but soon after, felt the entire exchange was suspicious and contacted her bank to cancel her card.
The bank confirmed someone had taken a small amount of money from the resident’s account, then attempted a significantly larger withdrawal which was declined.
Police are reminding everyone to be careful when it comes to providing personal and financial information.
