The Sunshine Coast RCMP, at the request of the local government, evacuated some homes last night (Tues) when a controlled burn got out of control near Smuggler Cove Marine Provincial Park.
The B.C. Wildfire Service says the fire got to be about 2 point 5 hectares in size before it was extinguished.
Two helicopters were brought in to battle the blaze and one three-person attack crew assisted the Sunshine Coast RCMP.
Constable Karen Whitby reported the fire around 6 and says it was out by 7:30.
Fire crews remained on scene to watch for hot spots.
