Here’s another reason why it’s a good idea to lock your vehicles when they are parked outside the house.
RCMP on the Sunshine Coast are reporting a Gibsons resident, in the 500 block of Woodland Avenue, heard his garage door open.
He went to investigate and found an unknown man standing inside.
The man fled down the street and was spotted leaving in a van.
The resident was not able to get a good description of the man but he did notice that his garage door opener had been stolen from inside an unlocked vehicle.
Mounties say its recommended homeowners lock their vehicles and doors to deter opportunistic thieves.
