Residents of Gibsons have until Friday to opt out of the organics curbside collection program.
Director of Finance, Dave Douglas said residents who want to opt out or renew their opt-out option can do so online.
“There are two applications online. There’s an application for new people wanting to opt out and we’ve provided a bit of a fast track application where people who opted out last year can just fill out a short form.”
Douglas said for those new to the opt-out option, they’ll have to prove they are composting and describe how they are doing it.
“People have to prove they are composting on their own site and for that, they are able to opt out. But they have to apply, we evaluate your method of composting your organics and then we provide a letter as to whether you can opt out or not.”
Applications will be evaluated by Town staff and written decisions will be provided to all applicants.
