Due to the volume of applications and inquiries, SCRD planning staff have scaled back their hours of availability to the public.
GM of Planning and Community Development, Ian Hall said the service counter will be closed from noon to 2 Monday to Friday.
“It has been a particularly strong development cycle recently. We haven’t seen this level of activity in recent memory. We are seeing a high volume of development applications and lots of referrals coming in from the province and member municipalities as well.”
Hall said the reduced hours of availability will ensure planning staff has the time they need to get their work done.
“As a way of balancing service to our customers at our front desk and ensuring that we have time to follow through and do the analysis and processing that’s required to serve customers. So far, the response has been positive with clients understanding that we are making this change to provide overall, good service.”
The reduced hours of service will be in effect until the end of March.
