The Sunshine Coast Advantage Navigator Program has launched.
The program aims to encourage businesses to invest in all levels of workplace training.
Chris Hergesheimer, of the Sunshine Coast Regional Economic Development Organization, says despite some good training programs in the region there seemed to be a gap for businesses when it came to finding employees with the necessary soft skills.
“At the end of the day, we decided to form the Advantage which essentially acts as a bridge between the needs of the business community and the availability of trainers and resources that we already have on the Sunshine Coast.”
Employers can request the assistance of a navigator who will help the business owner select tools, training, or resources that will work for them.
Hergesheimer said trained employees lead to improvements in retention and performance and can improve productivity, profit, and employee morale.
He said developing a highly-skilled workforce on the Sunshine Coast also helps the entire community.
There is no charge for the navigator service.
