The preliminary overall taxation increase for the Sunshine Coast Regional District is 6 point 4 per cent, or one point two million dollars over 2018.
The District’s Chief Financial Officer, Tina Perreault said the values range from half a per cent increase for the Sechelt Nation to as high as 9 point 3-3 per cent for Area B, Halfmoon Bay.
Perreault said there were more than 50 proposals presented to the board for funding consideration.
Perrealt said the largest taxation funded project was for the ports facilities to ensure ongoing capital maintenance.
She said funding for community partners and stakeholders also make up the bulk of the funding requests.
Those include museums, youth programs, and libraries.
Also moving forward is an increase in funding for fire departments, the Sunshine Coast Emergency Program, water utility projects as well as additional staffing resources for the water services.
The budget is due to be adopted March 28th.
There will be a televised review of the budget tomorrow on Coast Cable for those who subscribe.
