The Sunshine Coast Regional Economic Development Organization, along with three partner agencies are hosting a forum Thursday on workforce housing.
Chris Hergesheimer said they’ll be talking to businesses and developers about the lack of affordable housing on the Coast.
“There’s a great, very knowledgable and committed group of individuals who formed this workforce housing task force, we will call it, and I firmly believe we are going to see some movement on this in the next few months, as we move ahead.”
Hergesheimer said they need to find a pathway to housing that doesn’t eat up 70 per cent of a renters income.
He said they really need to raise some capital for housing projects and there are programs within BC Housing that could help with the housing affordability and availability problems on the Sunshine Coast.
