Redlin Report is missing some items, so says SSC Committee Chair

The Southern Sunshine Coast Ferry Advisory Committee chair is happy with the Redlin Report.

Diana Mumford said the report, released last week, contained 60 recommendations, many of them she said will help the Sunshine Coast.

She cited the case of accessibility for the older generation.

Some of the terminals have steep sidewalks that seniors have difficulty navigating.

Mumford says the report also recommended changes to the reservation system to better meet the needs of commuters who live on the Sunshine Coast and for people who use the Transportation Assistance Program for medical travel.

Mumford said she was happy to see the report acknowledge and address some of the problems with the ferry service.

She said she was especially pleased to see the report confirm that ferries are an integral part of the transportation system in B.C.

She added B.C. Ferries is already providing above their contracted service for the Sunshine Coast, but it’s not enough and the Committee will have more work to do to press their case for better service.
