National Injury Prevention Day

Tomorrow is national injury prevention day. (Thurs july 5th)

Most injuries can be prevented but it’s still the leading cause of death for a large group of Canadians.

Dr. Ian Pike with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research says it’s the leading cause of death for Canadians who are aged 1-44 and most of the injuries are preventable.

Pike says the major concern for seniors is when they don’t have good balance and end up falling.

Pike recommends tai chi classes and for seniors to get up and walk every day to gain better balance.
