BC Bat count begins

Tomorrow (Friday) marks the beginning of the annual BC bat count.

The first counting period typically goes from today until the 21st.
Michelle Evelyn with the Sunshine Coast Wild Life Project says the bat population is being threatened right now and they want to get an idea of how local bats are doing.

Evelyn expects the deadly white-nose syndrome disease to arrive in BC soon and says if you have any bat roosts you should contact them so they give it a quick assessment.

She says there are about 50 known bat roosts on the coast right now.
