For the first time, School District 46 is making progress in their request for an expansion at the West Sechelt Elementary school.
SD46 Secretary-Treasurer Nick Weswick says getting funding from the province for this project has been a top priority for them due to the ongoing overpopulation issues at the school.
It will be a two-step process but Weswick believes it’s a positive sign the province has asked them for a more detailed proposal.
Weswick says their deadline to submit a more detailed proposal is October and then it’ll be up to the Ministry of Education to decide whether any capital funds will be provided.
