Local police officer affected by cancer looks to make a difference

Cancer, unfortunately, affects a majority of us one way or another.

This year, a police officer on the Sunshine Coast is looking to raise funds and awareness for cancer research.

Constable Ben Stewart who ran the 21 km April Fools run in his uniform is looking to the community for donations as he’ll be participating in this year’s Cops for Cancer Tour De Coast.

Stewart says his motivation to participate in the 800km bike ride is because his family have been negatively impacted by cancer.

Stewart’s fundraising goal is $6000 and he’s already surpassed the $4000 mark.

Donations can be made online or you can drop them off at the police detachment in either Sechelt or Gibsons.
