Nic Simons disappointed with Site C decisions but happy with announcement on Pot tax

The NDP MLA representing Powell River-Sunshine Coast isn’t happy with the decision to move forward with the Site C project.

Nic Simons believes Premiere John Horgan was left with two untenable options and scrapping the project would have upset people as well as left the province in heavy debt.

Simons touched upped on another announcement in relation to recreational pot by the Federal Government.

He says it’s a positive that the federal government will reconsider how much tax provinces will collect from recreational pot because when it was first announced, the revenue was going to be split 50/50.

Provinces and territories will be eligible to collect between 70-80 per cent of the taxes that are generated from the sale of recreational pot.
