The President of the Sunshine Coast Housing Society wants to set the record straight for Greencourt.
Some residents living in the complex believe they could be facing eviction soon, but Robert Allen says that’s not true because they have tried to accommodate them.
Blocks B&C in the complex are about 50 years old, the 29 suites will be replaced and the society has helped 11 of the residents find places to live on site but 17 are suites still have seniors living in them.
Allen says they’re doing they’re best to accommodate those residents before construction starts.
Allen expects that the renovations will begin in about a year or 18 months. He says the residents who are still living in the cottages should start looking for their own accommodations and that they will be given proper notice before construction begins.
A public open house is being held next Tuesday starting at 5:30 to show the public what the housing society’s plans are.
