Province warns of drought

The reservoir used by Nanaimo for the city’s water supply is at 100 per cent capacity.
Water Resource Manager, Bill Sims says it’s a good position to be in heading into what’s forecast to be a dry summer.
And homeowners in Nanaimo are doing their part already….
The issues may be much different in other jurisdictions.
The province is urging Vancouver Islanders and Gulf Islanders to conserve water.
The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations anticipates the central and south island region will likely experience significant water supply shortages in 2016 unless there is substantial precipitation between now and the end of June.
