The water quality advisory that was issued by the City of Nanaimo November 17 has been cancelled.
The advisory was put in place because of increased sediment and turbidity in the water system following the heavy rain earlier in the week. There was no contamination of any sort.
City water manager Bill Sims says they’re hoping this is one of the last times they have to issue an advisory because of heavy rain or snow melt. “Once the new water treatment plant is brought on line – expected to be in the coming weeks – drinking water will be filtered to a very high degree, and weather-induced boil advisories will be a thing of the past,” he says.
