Nanaimo Mayor Bill McKay says he’s looking forward to a strong business relationship with China on the heels of a recent provincial trade mission.
McKay and the Chair of the Nanaimo Economic Development Corporation joined the Premier and others for part of the trip.
McKay says the Chinese officials and business people they met already had a good sense of what Nanaimo could offer. He says one thing they didn’t know a lot about, was high tech.
McKay says although the Chinese officials weren’t up on Nanaimo’s high tech industries they were keen to learn more, and he expects that’s an area were the city will see interest down the road.
