The City of Nanaimo is hoping to hear from the province this week about the plans they’ve submitted for the new spillway and pedestrian bridge at Colliery Dam Park.
City Construction Manager Steven Rickets says they can’t get started on that part of the project until the province signs off.
“The design drawings were issued for review to Dam Safety (Branch),” he says. “These are what we’re hoping to be the drawings that we construct, but we’re waiting for Dam Safety to have a review and provid their input.”
In the meantime, Rickets says Copcan engineering is making good progress on the secant pile wall, which will shore up the ground when it’s excavated to build the new spillway.
