Island Health and Vancouver Coastal Health have started offering flu shots.
Dr. Paul Martiquet is the Medical Health Officer for the Sunshine Coast. He says they haven’t seen much flu activity yet, but that’s no reason to wait to get a shot.
Martiquet also says this season’s vaccine is a good, but not perfect, match for the major strains.
Val Wilson of Island Health says the clinics are aimed at vaccinating as many people who are eligible for a free shot as possible.
Information about flu clinic times and eligibility can be found at immunizebc.ca (the site also lists pharmacies and private clinics where people can get the shots)
