Sechelt Council not impressed with provincial response to AVICC resolution

Councillors in Sechelt say they’re not happy with the government’s response to a resolution they sponsored at the Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities AGM.

It called for an independent audit of how well the province is prepared for an oil spill.

Environment Minister Mary Polak says they’ve already had a consultant study marine spill preparedness and response.

But Councillor Noel Muller says that study has some pretty big flaws.

Council voted Wednesday to follow up, and tell the province the study doesn’t address their concerns and there should still be an independent audit.
