Nanaimo, Parksville, and Qualicum Beach are banding together to tackle invasive Japanese knotweed.
They’ll be working with the Coastal Invasive Species Committee to subsidize professional services for homeowners dealing with infestations.
The Committee’s Rachelle McElroy says it’s a tough plant to get rid of, and it’s incredibly fast-growing.
McElroy says they’re now looking for homeowners who have knotweed on their property. They’ll do an assessment and invasive plant technicians will make the rounds in July and August.
The dealine to notify the Coastal ISC is July 15th.
