Ferries says strong Feb/Mar passenger numbers bode well

The CEO of BC Ferries says strong traffic numbers in February and March bode well for the summer.

The company says traffic across the system was up around 10 per cent in February and 5 per cent in March.

Mike Corrigan says low gas prices and a weaker Canadian dollar are bringing back tourists, and they expect strong numbers over the rest of spring and summer.

But, he acknowledges they can’t be sure what will happen if either of those trends changes.

Changing fuel prices could also mean an end to the 1 per cent fuel rebate the company put in place April 1st
