Gibsons hopes to stop water chlorination in May

The Town of Gibsons says they’re hoping to end chlorination of water for Zones 1 and 2 in early May.

Gibsons was forced to start chlorinating after e-coli contamination led to a boil water advisory last summer.

Vancouver Coastal Health agreed to allow a return to un-chlorinated drinking water for the areas supplied by the aquifer once the Town met several requirements, including having backflow prevention valves on all residential properties.

The Town says it only has 20 left to install
