Directors at the Sunshine Coast Regional District are hearing from one of the new players in the renewable energy game.
A company called BluEarth Renewables has bought the Tyson Creek run-of-river project, and is negotiating to buy another in the area.
Jason Edworthy of BluEarth told the Planning and Development Committee that the company has a long track record of cooperation with First Nations.
The SCRD Board is also looking at a new policy for “community benefits” negotiated with companies that want to set up power stations.
The leading idea right now is to have cash contributions added to a pool that can be spent in any area.
