Sechelt Council sides with bollard backers on Baillie Road

The bollards are coming back to Baillie Road in West Sechelt.

The traffic calming measures were put up several years ago to keep heavy traffic, like construction vehicles, out of the residential area at time when it was growing quickly.

The public works department says they’re no longer needed, and removed them.

But Councillor Alice Lutes says the community thinks otherwise.

Councillor Mike Shanks was the lone vote against the move. He says after looking into the traffic situation himself, and going over old reports he’s convinced the bollards were always meant as a temporary measure and should come down.
