Province augments OGMAs

The province says it’s moving to protect more old-growth forest on the Sunshine Coast.

The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource
Operations has created 567 new old growth management areas.

Most of them are in the Inlets north of Sechelt, including: Toba, Jervis, Salmon and Bute.

The new OGMAs  cover more than 180-thousand hectares, which is nearly 14 per cent of the Crown forest in those regions.
