SPCA welcomes move to study cat licensing in Nanaimo

The Nanaimo SPCA is applauding a decision by Nanaimo City Council to draft new bylaws prohibiting leaving dogs in hot cars, or tied up outside all the time The City is also going to look into licensing cats.

Leon Davis, Executive Director of the Nanaimo SPCA, says he’s thrilled about that part.


Davis says, while only a small percentage of cats are returned, 75 per cent of stay dogs are reunited with their owners, and licensing is part of the reason.
