At 25 million dollars it’s the District of Sechelt’s biggest infrastructure project, and they’re getting ready to turn to the public for ideas on how to finish off the Water Resource Centre.
They want to make the land around it a park, or other public space.
Council’s new Public Works, Parks and Environment Committee took a look at some of the ideas Wednesday. Project manager Paul Nash says the overall landscape plan is pretty much set, because it was part of getting LEED environmental certification.
Other ideas include pickle-ball courts, and an off leash dog area. Some in the immediate neighbourhood have raised concerns about that as well as lighting, parking and other issues.
The first public meeting on the park plan will be for those immediate neighbours, with a larger meeting to follow.
