Oceanside RCMP say an 88 year old man has been arrested after an attack on his home caregiver earlier this week. They’re also investigating the discovery of several guns at the home.
The woman was stabbed, but her injuries were not life threatening. She was treated and released from hospital the same day.
She’s an employee of Island Health and the health authority, along with WorkSafe BC are also looking into the incident. The woman’s family is calling for better safeguards to protect caregivers who have to make home visits.
The man, who suffers dementia, has been released on a promise to appear in court.
