The group Save Halkett Bay has succeeded in getting a temporary halt to the Artifical Reef Society’s plans for sinking the HMCS Annapolis this weekend.
The ARSBC has been ordered to leave the ship where it is until January 27th, when both sides will be back to court for arguments on an injunction request from Save Halkett Bay.
Christianne Wilhelmson is with the Georgia Strait Alliance, which has been supporting Save Halkett Bay.
The ARSBC says the artificial reefs create valuable marine habitat, and it points to examples in Sechelt Inlet and the waters around Nanaimo as proof.
They didn’t issue a public response to the court order, but did post this picture on their website.
