Hundreds of brave souls took advantage of near perfect weather to join Polar Bear swims in the region on New Year’s Day.
Around 160 people took the plunge up in Parksville, and at least that many -including these enthusiastic swimmers – hit the waters of Sechelt’s Davis Bay.
Turnout was also good in Gibsons and Pender Harbour.
Nanaimo’s Polar Bear Swim was on Boxing Day, a tradition started by former mayor Frank Ney. It saw similar numbers.
