Through the power of social media the owner of the safe, turned into the Nanaimo RCMP, has been located.
RCMP say two days after they posted the story of the safe and the cards inside to their Detachment Facebook account, the owner of the safe contacted the investigator to claim the property.
She told police it had been stolen during a break in to a back yard shed along with a thousand dollars worth of tools.
She says the safe had no valuables in it, except for the cards, and no key.
The stolen tools were eventually recovered by the Port Alberni RCMP.
