The number of illicit drug deaths in March was the third-highest number ever for a single month.
The BC Coroners Service is reporting a total of 120 people died as a result of illicit drug use during the month of March.
Island Health reported 21 fatal drug overdoses in March, two fewer than in February.
In Nanaimo, there have been 13 overdose deaths so far this year.
That compares to a total of 28 last year.
