RCMP investigate a pair of weekend stabbings

A 28 year old man is in police custody after a report of a stabbing in Nanaimo.
The incident happened around 10 o’clock last Friday monring in the 100 block of Acacia St.

The suspect and victim knew each other and had some sort of disagreement prior to the stabbing.

The victim was treated and released from the Nanaimo hospital.
Police caught up to the suspect Friday evening and arrested him without incident.
He’s facing a number of charges including assault with a weapon.
Oceanside RCMP also dealt with a stabbing over the weekend

that sent one man to hospital in serious condition.
It happened Friday night just before 9 o’clock at the French Creek Marina pub.
When police arrived they found a 41 year old Parksville man lying in the marina parking lot with multiple stab wounds.
Within minutes, a member of the Oceanside RCMP located the suspect, a 30 year old Errington man who had fled the scene on foot.
The suspect was arrested without incident near the French Creek Bridge on highway 19a.
The victim was taken to Nanaimo and then transferred to via air ambulance to the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, where he remains in serious condition.

Witnesses and staff at the pub told police the men had arrived at the pub together and appeared to be friends.
