Margaret Hodgins, the Sechelt Chief Librarian says 900 library registration forms were handed out earlier this month to kids in Grade 3 – 7 thanks to the Every Student A Library Card on the Sunshine Coast program.
She says the local schools and libraries teamed up for the program and they’ve heard positive feed back already.
She says other communities have similar programs in place and they were able to get some advice from those communities before they started.
In the Fall, they’ll be looking to expand the program to high schools as well.
