Metis culture and history is being celebrated on the Sunshine Coast.
The Town of Gibsons and District of Sechelt have proclaimed today, November 16th, “Louis Riel Day”.
Ron Paradis is the president of the Metis Citizens Society, and a Sunshine Coast resident. He says Gibsons and Sechelt are among the few communities in BC that proclaim the day.
The Metis “Infinity” flag will be raised at both Sechelt and Gibsons municipal halls, where it will fly until the 23rd.
