Nanaimo Chamber pleased with progress on food truck policy

The Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce says it’s hoping to see more food trucks in more places next spring and summer now that the city’s Parks and Recreation Commission has give the nod to a plan for licensing.

The Chamber brought together food truck operators and others to give advice to the City on the plan.

The draft policy sets out locations, license fees and buffer zones around restaurants, elementary schools and special events.

Kim Smythe is the executive director of the Chamber

City Council still has to give final approval. And Smythe says he expects that to come soon.
