Coastal Fire Centre has hands full

On top of the Old Sechelt Mine fire, the Coastal Fire Centre also other worrisome fires are also burning in the Island Coastal region.

In Port Hardy, officials have declared a state of local emergency as a result of fire threatening homes.

An evacuation order is in effect. At last word, the Tsulquate River fire was about 16 hectares and at points had come with 300 metres of homes

And near Sproat Lake, the Dog Mountain fire (pictured above courtesy Wildfire Management Branch) has forced the evacuation of some cabins along the shore.

Evacuation orders are also in place in the Pemberton Valley because of the Boulder Creek fire.
