The Sunshine Coast Regional District is asking for better consultation with residents of Pender Harbour over a dock management plan.
Property owners got their first look at the draft plan last month, after years of negotiations between the government and the Sechelt First Nation.
Ron Malcom of the Pender Harbour Chamber of Commerce urged SCRD Directors to ask the province for more input. He says the negotiations should have been broader from the beginning.
When it’s finalized the management plan would end a long standing moratorium on dock building, while dealing with Sechelt First Nation concerns over impact to their traditional territory.
