RCMP investigate Nanaimo boat theft 

Nanaimo RCMP are looking to the public for help in locating two people responsible for stealing a sailboat for the Townsite Marina.  

According to police, around 1:30 a.m. on July 10, 2024, two men entered the marina located at 20 Townsite Road and stole the 45-foot sailboat that was moored along H dock. 

RCMP say investigators were able to find the boat the same day in Nanaimo and is currently being held. 

“The sailboat was found adrift in Departure Bay,” police say. “It was also reported that a zodiac was seen leaving the location of the sailboat.” 

The first man of interest to police is described as Caucasian, 40-45 years of age, medium build and height. Police add he was last seen wearing a black puffy jacket, blue shirt, jeans, and a black baseball cap.

The other man is described as Caucasian, 35-40 years of age, thin build and medium height. They say he was last seen wearing a red t-shirt with a large white logo on the front, with brown shorts carrying a bike tire.
